Job Description
  1. Assign work and supervise the servicing and repair of vehicles. Supervise testing and maintenance of vehicles. Monitor and check quality of repairs. Monitor and supervise workshop spares acquisition, issuance and usage. Order spares.
  2. Supervise the preparation of trucks and trailers for annual VID certificate of fitness tests.Co-ordinate breakdown recovery and repair activities. Keep record of work. Produce workshop vehicle repair budget estimates. Control and monitor workshop repair costs.
  3. Produce and formulate a programme for the periodic service maintenance of the trucks.Produce workshop repair summary sheet monthly. Improve vehicle availability.Ensure sufficient task analysis are completed to carry work out safely.
  4. Ensure all direct labouring control work to safe working procedures and systems. Co-ordinate and allocate work. Request equipment, materials and consumables as required. Monitor the use of materials and care of equipment and plant to minimize waste and damage.
  5. Prepare short term schedules. Refer disciplinary action to the Fleet Managers. Ensure all work is carried out to quality and specification requirements and that documentation is completed on time.Daily time cards are completed accurately.
  6. Ensure housekeeping is ongoing. Ensure workshop security. Ensure equipment and tools are secure and used correctly. Help in technical queries. Sign Start and Finish times on job daily. Assist in performance appraisals. Monitor annual leave, sick leave, work cover leave etc.
  7. Investigate nonconformance of all staff under your control.Conduct preventative maintenance on machinery equipment and mobile equipment. Carry out accident investigations timeously in conjunction with the Fleet Managers.
