A leading organisation in the manufacturing industry is seeking a SHE Engineer to head the SHE Department of their organisation. Reporting directly to the CEO, the successful candidate will possess a Degree in Mechanical Engineering and have experience in Quality Assurance and Safety and Health. A minimum of 5 years work experience within a manufacturing setup is necessary. Additional knowledge of ISO series will be advantageous. Applications are invited. Job Description
Implement health, safety and environment standards in accordance with legislation
Monitor and advise on company compliance on issues relating to SHE
Ensure and comply with safety standards guidelines, policies and procedures
Advise heads of departments on SHE matters including policies, strategies, systems, standards, efficiencies and procedures
Investigate all accidents, near misses and damage to company property and recommend remedial action to prevent reoccurrence
Induct and train all new employees
Formulate and implement safety training programmes for all employees
Maintain all accidents records and report accidents to NSSA for investigation and claim purposes
Ensure recommendations by the Health & Safety Committee are implemented.
Recommend any new safety, health and environment procedures or change to existing ones.
Acquire and display appropriate warning notices in compliance to current legislation
Supply accident statistics to management, committees and supervisors and advise with analysis
Enhance safety awareness throughout working area.
Ensure that safety drills are conducted as per schedule
Ensure working area and equipment is clean and safe at all times and in good working condition.
Ensure that PPE is worn during shift and safety rules and regulations adhered to.
Inspect the plant and equipment to ensure they are safe to use with guards in place
Ensure that Fire Prevention regulations are complied with and the emergency evacuation procedure is in place
Ensure that all fire protection appliances are effective and operational
